I hope all this moderate success is not one of those smoke and mirrors tricks that disappear when summer arrives. Somehow, unexpected success is more fun! I appreciate your insight and your friendship.
It has been a fun team! Even if they start to slide, I think we'll still enjoy the summer. And as Joaquin Andujar said, there's one word that sums up baseball, and that word is "You never know".
I was glad to see Gorman moved down in the lineup yesterday. I think you're right about VS2 - as he continues his climb towards the Mendoza line, I do think he's in pitchers' heads when on base.
Misti & I were talking this weekend about Victor stealing bases, and couldn't recall: Was it him who said he wants to steal 50 this year?
I appreciate your confidence but it was misplaced. The media folks have already reported Scott didn't go with the team to New York, heading to Memphis as Church is activated.
I believe VS2's goal was 70 bases. Don't think he's going to get there!
Scott and Gorman have to go to Memphis, Church or Nootbaar can play center the other can play left most of the time. Walker is not that good a right fielder, despite what the metrics claim. I watch every game, and I would rather see him play 3B, which would then put Nootbaar or Church in center, the other and right, and Velasquez and Torres splitting time in left. In my opinion Torres and Velasquez need to stay, Scott and Gorman need to go. If Walker stays in right field, then Torres and Fermin share third base.
Well, you are right on Scott, who has been demoted in favor of the returning Nathan Church. I think Gorman may have time reduced but I doubt he gets sent down.
