Genuinely moved by your thoughts on TexasCardsFan1 passing. I suspect that this is something we're going to see a lot more of in the years to come (to be honest, I've seen it already in some of the gaming communities I'm kinda part of) where people we know well online but have had limited (or no) direct interaction with come to the end of their days. I'm not sure whether it's sad that we can't interact with them any more, or something to be treasured that we ever had the chance. Probably a bit of both.
Oh, the Cards? My money is on regression to the mean, as others have said.
Absolutely. There are bloggers that were in the original group I put together when I started this that have already passed on, but there are others that I really don't know where they are at. They dropped off of that grid and it might be years before I know if something happened to them. That's the downside to such a wide and informal group of folks, I guess.
I believe you're right, as much as that pains me to say it. This is just who Libby is. Can't go deep in games. Where I disagreed with Kiley yesterday was that his claim of Libby being this guy he's been in May. He's not a 30+% K guy. He's just not. I don't believe he's a 20% K guy. His start to 2025 was good. But he still finished the season below 20% and was a very different pitcher. Here we are again.
I need to step up my game to get an invite to blogger day!
Truman and I went to see Mandolorian and Grogu last Thursday. Meh. I'm trying to be more positive so I won't say much. I was really hoping they'd advance the story, but it feels mostly stuck at where they were in season 1. I always enjoy SW on the big screen, so I enjoyed it there. When I think about the story or some choices made (Jeremy Allen White, in particular), I like it less.
Maybe I shouldn't think. (Teeing that up for you nicely)
I think they really wanted this to be a "come, watch this movie, don't worry about the before or the after". If they want to continue things, I'm sure there will be a Rotta sighting in the future or Mando/Grogu will tackle more of the "deck of cards".
What's going to be interesting is when they start building up to the Filoni movie, which will require the homework. Assuming that movie gets made (or gets a theatrical release).
The only thing going for Libby in regards to the K rate is that some of the others on the staff have stepped up lately as well, such as McGreevy and Leahy. Even Pallante has had a game with 7 K. If it's a staff/development thing, maybe that is sustainable. It's probably more opponents being a little free swinging or have an outdated scouting report and it'll come back down soon.
I caught Mando with my kids (12m and 7f) and landed exactly where you do. I thought it was perfectly fine. They could have made it a 3-4 episode arc in the show, and I would have enjoyed it there too. But the kids? Of they loved it. Action. Humor. Loud Noises! Mando beating up 'bad guys' and Grogu growing up a touch? It was their jam!
We'll definitely all watch again on Disney+ as well.
I agree with Walt below that the Birds may be reverting to the mean, but I think we should, as fans, be happy that the mean is FAR ABOVE where the masses had projected it to be. It's definitely not where we want it, but it's better than the 30 under they were projected.
Reverting to the mean. I think the club has started the season winning more than the quality of the roster should have won. Credit to Oli and the players never give up attitude. Lack of talent is now rearing its ugly head. It's no secret 1 - 4 are hitting well and 5 - 9 + the bench are not.
Maybe if they can find another left-hand-hitter-who-they-think-will-be-a-LH-Harmon-Killebrew and give some everyday playing time while he hits a cool .215, they can sink even lower. I mean, one of those guys isn't enough, right? And not bunting the ghost runner over in the 11th with a guy who bunts well but is hitting .200--yeah, we could use more of that!

Professionals pass by the obvious setups.

Professional has never been an adjective used to describe me!
I’m excited about Starfighter, but I honestly don’t know much about it.
Yes, great point on the whole staff. Already different than when we talked!
I meant that it was all too easy to take your last line of the first message and turn it around.
Nobody does! Starfighter is set sometime after Rise of Skywalker so it could be anything.
